Florence – Jay Jordan, Republican candidate for Congress in South Carolina’s new 7th Congressional District, responded to President Obama’s State of the Union Address:
“Tonight, President Barack Obama delivered his annual State of the Union Address.
The central theme of his address was our economy and how under his leadership the economy is growing and becoming more equitable for all Americans. Make no mistake; neither of these is happening. The official name of his agenda this evening was called an “America Built to Last,” however under his leadership it is an America built to fail.
The President has laid out a new plan to revive American manufacturing and small business. However, when given the opportunity to create thousands of new jobs with the Keystone XL Pipeline he carelessly killed it. This is simply unacceptable when our jobless rate remains at a high 8.5% and our domestic energy needs are at an all time high. Instead of using his time in front of the American people to lay out a sincere and bipartisan plan for creating jobs he used this opportunity to kick off his reelection campaign. Four more years of economic decline and joblessness is not acceptable.
President Obama said that what are at stake are not Democrat values or Republican values, but American values. On this, we agree. However, I believe that we cannot save our American values with this President. We need a strong, conservative congress to push back against the leftist policies pushed on us by this Presidency. That is why I am running for congress. Now is the time to fight for the freedom to save our future.
I look forward to working with the President when elected to Congress. Just not this President.
